Returning to the Present Moment
A guide to recognizing the everyday moments when you unknowingly leave the present moment — and how to lovingly return to yourself, again and again.
What Does It Mean to "Leave the Body?"
One of the questions I often ask clients is:
"Were you fully present, or did you leave your body?"
Many people immediately answer,
"No, I stayed present. I heard everything they were saying, and I responded."
But leaving the body is often much more subtle than most people realize.
It doesn't necessarily mean you zoned out.
It doesn't mean you weren't listening.
It doesn't mean you became disconnected from your surroundings.
More often, it means you quietly left the present moment.
For example...
Someone is speaking to you.
They are still in the middle of their sentence...
But you've already begun preparing your response.
You are no longer fully listening.
Part of your awareness has left the now moment and moved into thought.
You are no longer experiencing what is happening.
You are preparing for what comes next.
That is one of the most common ways we leave the body.
Presence Requires No Preparation
When we are fully embodied, something beautiful happens.
We listen completely.
Without rehearsing.
Without defending ourselves.
Without trying to fix.
Without trying to be right.
Without mentally preparing our next sentence.
We simply receive.
Ironically, this is when our responses become the clearest.
Not because we thought about them more...
But because they arise naturally from our Higher Self instead of our conditioned mind.
We Leave the Present Moment in Many Different Ways
Leaving the body simply means that our awareness has drifted away from this moment.
Our physical body may still be here...
But our consciousness has wandered somewhere else.
We leave the present moment whenever we begin:
Replaying something that happened yesterday.
Worrying about what might happen tomorrow.
Preparing our response while someone else is still speaking.
Mentally defending ourselves.
Judging ourselves or someone else.
Planning what comes next.
Analyzing every detail.
Trying to control the outcome.
Comparing ourselves to others.
Wondering what people think about us.
Rehearing conversations that haven't happened.
Reliving conversations that are already over.
Trying to fix everything.
Searching for certainty instead of trusting ourselves.
Each of these moments gently pulls us away from Presence.
And when we leave the present moment...
We also leave our relationship with our Higher Self.
Returning Is Simpler Than You Think
The beautiful thing is...
Returning doesn't require effort.
The moment you notice your mind wandering...
Simply pause.
Take one conscious breath.
Feel your body.
Feel your feet upon the Earth.
Feel your heart.
Then silently say:
"I now call my Higher Self fully into my body."
Notice how quickly your awareness begins returning.
You haven't gone anywhere.
You've simply come home to yourself.
Again and again.
Presence Is One of the Greatest Gifts You Can Offer
When you are fully present...
People feel seen.
People feel heard.
People feel safe.
Not because you have the perfect words.
But because you never left them.
And you never left yourself.
Presence is one of the purest expressions of love.
A Simple Daily Practice
Throughout your day, gently ask yourself:
"Am I fully here?"
Or...
"Am I listening... or am I preparing?"
If you notice that you've drifted into thought...
Smile.
Take one conscious breath.
Call your Higher Self fully into your body.
Return to your heart.
Return to this moment.
There is no judgment.
Only another opportunity to return.
Again and again.
A Final Thought
Leaving the body rarely means leaving the room.
It usually means leaving the present moment.
The more often you notice yourself wandering...
The more opportunities you have to lovingly return.
Because every time you return to the present moment...
You strengthen your relationship with your Higher Self.
And every time you strengthen that relationship...
Life begins to feel more peaceful.
More coherent.
More joyful.
More aligned.
Remember...
You do not need to become someone else.
You simply return to who you have always been.
Again and again.

Recognizing the Moments We Leave Ourselves
A gentle guide to the common, quiet ways we self-abandon throughout the day — and how to lovingly return to yourself, again and again.
Common Ways We Self-Abandon
One of the greatest discoveries we can make on our spiritual journey is realizing that self-abandonment is rarely dramatic.
It is usually quiet.
Subtle.
Almost invisible.
We often think of self-abandonment as something that only happens in unhealthy relationships or during major life events.
But in truth, it happens in ordinary moments throughout the day.
Every time we choose fear over trust.
Every time we ignore our intuition.
Every time we disconnect from our body.
Every time we seek our worth outside of ourselves.
These small moments slowly pull us away from our Higher Self.
The beautiful news is that awareness changes everything.
Once we recognize these patterns, we can gently choose differently.
Again and again.
What Is Self-Abandonment?
Self-abandonment is any moment when we stop honoring our own inner knowing.
It is the moment we disconnect from our Higher Self in order to gain approval, avoid discomfort, maintain control, or meet someone else's expectations.
Most of us learned these patterns early in life.
They were often unconscious attempts to feel safe, loved, accepted, or valued.
There is no need for guilt or judgment.
Only awareness.
Because awareness gives us the opportunity to return.
Common Ways We Self-Abandon
You may recognize yourself in some of these examples.
As you read them, simply notice.
There is nothing to fix.
Only something to become aware of.
We say "yes" when our heart is saying "no."
We agree because we don't want to disappoint someone.
We fear being rejected.
We fear being misunderstood.
In doing so, we leave ourselves.
We ignore our intuition.
Our body quietly knows.
Our heart whispers.
Yet we convince ourselves that someone else knows better.
We stop trusting our own wisdom.
We seek approval before making decisions.
Instead of asking, "What feels true for me?" we ask, "What will everyone else think?"
Our guidance becomes external instead of internal.
We overthink everything.
We analyze.
We replay conversations.
We search for certainty.
Meanwhile, our Higher Self patiently waits beneath all of the mental activity.
We prepare instead of being present.
Someone is speaking.
But we're already creating our response.
We're no longer listening.
We've left the present moment.
We judge ourselves.
We tell ourselves we're not ready.
Not enough.
Not spiritual enough.
Not successful enough.
Not healed enough.
Judgment disconnects us from the compassion our Higher Self naturally offers.
We compare ourselves to others.
Comparison causes us to forget our own unique path.
Your Higher Self never asks you to become someone else.
It simply invites you to become more fully yourself.
We ignore what our body is telling us.
We push through exhaustion.
We dismiss our emotions.
We override our body's wisdom.
Our body is always communicating.
Learning to listen is part of embodiment.
We stay busy to avoid being still.
Constant activity can become a distraction from ourselves.
Stillness often reveals exactly what our heart has been waiting to tell us.
We believe our worth must be earned.
We work harder.
Prove more.
Do more.
Become more.
Yet our worth has never depended on our achievements.
It has always existed.
We postpone our joy.
"I'll be happy when..."
"I'll relax after..."
"I'll enjoy life once..."
Joy is not something we earn.
It is something we allow ourselves to experience now.
We forget to return.
Perhaps the most common form of self-abandonment is simply forgetting.
Forgetting to breathe.
Forgetting to pause.
Forgetting to become present.
Forgetting to call our Higher Self fully into our body.
Forgetting who we truly are.
Returning to Yourself
The goal is not perfection.
You will leave yourself.
Everyone does.
The practice is noticing.
Every time you become aware...
You have an opportunity to return.
Take one conscious breath.
Feel your body.
Feel your heart.
Then simply say:
"I now call my Higher Self fully into my body."
That single moment changes everything.
Because every time you return...
You strengthen your relationship with yourself.
Reflection Questions
Take a few moments to reflect on these questions.
There are no right or wrong answers.
Simply answer honestly.
Where do I most often abandon myself?
When do I ignore my intuition?
What situations pull me out of the present moment?
Where am I seeking approval instead of trusting my own heart?
What would it feel like to choose myself more often?
How can I lovingly return to myself today?
A Daily Reminder
Every moment offers a new choice.
Will I leave myself...
Or will I return?
Returning doesn't require perfection.
It only requires awareness.
One breath.
One pause.
One loving choice.
Again and again.
A Final Thought
Your Higher Self has never abandoned you.
It has remained present through every experience, patiently waiting for you to remember.
The more often you choose yourself...
The more often you trust your inner knowing...
The more often you return to the present moment...
The stronger your relationship with your Higher Self becomes.
And as that relationship deepens, something beautiful begins to happen.
You no longer spend your life searching for yourself.
You realize...
You were never lost.
You were simply waiting to remember — You are Source, You are Sovereign and You are Free.

Calling Your Higher Self Into the Body
A simple daily practice for embodiment — how to consciously invite your Higher Self into every moment of your life.
A Simple Daily Practice for Embodiment
One of the questions I am asked most often is:
"What does it mean to call my Higher Self into my body?"
The Higher Self is not somewhere outside of you.
It is the eternal, expanded aspect of your consciousness that already knows who you truly are.
It is the wisest, most loving, and most authentic expression of your being.
When we consciously invite our Higher Self into the body, we become more present, more coherent, and more aligned with our true nature.
This simple practice is the foundation of nearly every activation I share because embodiment always comes before transformation.
When your Higher Self is fully embodied, you become more receptive to intuition, more connected to your heart, and more capable of responding to life with peace, clarity, and wisdom.
The more often you practice this, the more natural it becomes.
Step 1: Become Present
Find a quiet place where you will not be disturbed.
Take several slow, conscious breaths.
Allow your shoulders to soften.
Relax your jaw.
Relax your body.
Release the need to accomplish anything.
Simply arrive in this moment.
Presence is the doorway to embodiment.
Step 2: Call Your Higher Self Into Your Body
From the deepest place within your heart, gently repeat:
"I now call my Higher Self fully into my body."
Again...
"I now call my Higher Self fully into my body."
One more time...
"I now call my Higher Self fully into my body."
As you speak these words, imagine your Higher Self as radiant Light gently descending through the crown of your head.
Feel this Light flowing effortlessly through your body.
Through your mind...
Relaxing every thought.
Into your throat...
Your shoulders...
Your arms...
Your hands.
Flowing into your heart...
Your lungs...
Your solar plexus...
Your abdomen...
Your hips...
Your legs...
Your knees...
Your feet.
Allow every cell to awaken.
Allow every breath to become more alive.
Allow every part of your body to remember.
You are here.
Fully embodied.
Fully present.
There is nothing to force.
Simply allow.
Step 3: Ground Your Embodied Higher Self into Gaia
Now that your Higher Self is fully embodied...
Allow beautiful roots of Light to extend from the soles of your feet...
Deep into Gaia.
Feel these roots gently making their way into the crystalline heart of our beloved Earth.
Allow your embodied Higher Self to anchor into Gaia's Sacred Heart.
Feel Gaia lovingly receive you.
Feel her stability.
Her wisdom.
Her unwavering Presence.
You are supported.
You are held.
You belong.
Grounding is most powerful when we are already embodied.
We are not grounding our personality.
We are grounding our embodied Higher Self into the living consciousness of Gaia.
Step 4: Enter Your High Heart
Now gently bring your awareness into your High Heart.
Just above your physical heart.
This is the sacred meeting place where your Higher Self and your human experience come together.
Rest your awareness here.
Without effort.
Without expectation.
Simply be present.
As you remain here...
Your heart naturally begins to enter coherence.
Your breath becomes effortless.
Your body softens.
Your mind becomes quiet.
Everything begins moving together.
Your thoughts.
Your emotions.
Your body.
Your breath.
Your Higher Self.
All becoming one harmonious field.
Step 5: Allow The Light Within to Awaken
Within your High Heart is The Light Within.
Some traditions refer to this as your Inner SUN.
It is the eternal Light of Source that has always lived within you.
You are not receiving something outside of yourself.
You are remembering what has always been there.
Allow The Light Within to expand naturally.
Filling your heart.
Your chest.
Your entire body.
Every organ.
Every muscle.
Every cell.
Every atom.
Radiating with the Presence of your Higher Self.
There is nothing to strive for.
Only something to remember.
Step 6: Remain
This is perhaps the most important step.
There is nothing left to do.
Nothing left to achieve.
Nothing left to become.
Simply remain.
Remain present.
Remain embodied.
Remain connected to your Higher Self.
Remain connected to your heart.
Remain connected to The Light Within.
The more often you return to this relationship...
The more natural it becomes.
Embodiment is not something you accomplish once.
It is a relationship you return to...
Again and again.
A Simple Daily Practice
You can return to this practice anytime throughout your day.
Pause.
Take one conscious breath.
Then simply say:
"I now call my Higher Self fully into my body."
Feel your breath.
Feel your heart.
Feel your feet upon the Earth.
Remember The Light Within.
And remain.
Even a few moments of conscious embodiment can completely change how you experience your day.
A Final Thought
Calling your Higher Self into your body is not about becoming someone new.
It is about remembering who you have always been.
The more consistently you return to this practice, the more your life begins to reflect the peace, clarity, love, wisdom, and joy that already exist within you.
Because your Higher Self has never left you.
It has simply been waiting for you to consciously invite it into every moment of your life.
May this simple practice become a daily reminder that everything you seek already lives within you.

Forgiveness Letter Template
A guided letter framework to help you release emotional weight, reclaim your freedom, and return to love — written by Patty McGuire.
The Template
Dear (Insert Name),
I desire a deep inner peace and freedom from this feeling. I've been carrying this backpack full of rocks, they are not even mine, and I'm really tired.
Here are the things that I am most upset about:
(Let loose and don't hold anything back here) examples: you weren't there for me, I felt alone, I felt abandoned, I was angry, I felt worthless, I felt like an outcast, why did you love them more than me…
I now realize that you acted in a way, and did what you could, in a limited way, given your own level of UN-consciousness at the time. From my soul's point of view, I forgive you for your mistaken perception, which is your state of unconsciousness.
I also now VALIDATE all of my feelings, I am allowed to feel all of them. I am a sentient being and I now know that my emotions are meant to be felt and all are valid including any resentment.
I also forgive myself for my mistaken perception, because in unconscious moments I forgot that I am pure perfection, love, and light. In this NOW moment, I am choosing freedom and self-love. I love myself enough to let this go and be at peace.
Any part of this situation that still feels like dense energy, I surrender over to my guides, my soul, and the angels to transmute it all back to love. I ask for their guidance to help me to see this situation only through the eyes of love.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
3 Statements Used Daily for Self-Empowerment
- ✦Why would I deny myself love in this now moment?
- ✦What am I choosing to create in this now moment?
- ✦Nothing is more important than creating my Heaven on Earth.
- ✦Everything that brings you joy — "I deserve this or something better!"
*Write a separate letter even if multiple souls were involved in the same situation. You are addressing each of them on the soul level for healing. Their souls (remember our souls are eternal) are present even if they have transitioned. Their guides and angels can help their soul to learn and have the understanding and completion that you receive by aligning with forgiveness. It is a beautiful ripple effect!

Entanglement
Loving Without Carrying Another's Journey — a guide to staying on your own path while holding deep love and trust for those around you.
Loving Without Carrying Another's Journey
One of the greatest challenges many people experience after awakening is something I call entanglement.
Entanglement happens when our attention becomes so focused on another person's journey that we begin to step away from our own.
It usually begins with love.
You want the people closest to you to experience the same peace, freedom, and expansion that you are beginning to feel.
You naturally want to share what you are learning.
You want to help.
You want to protect them.
You want them to awaken.
These feelings are completely understandable.
Most of us have experienced them.
But there is an important spiritual principle to remember.
Every soul is walking a sacred path that cannot be lived for them.
Every Soul Has Divine Timing
As we awaken, we often begin to see life differently than our family members, friends, or partners.
Sometimes this creates excitement.
Sometimes it creates sadness.
Sometimes it creates fear.
We may wonder,
"What if they never awaken?"
"What if they stay stuck?"
"How do I help them?"
These questions arise naturally until we develop a deeper trust in our Higher Self and in the wisdom of Source.
One of the greatest acts of faith is trusting that every soul is unfolding exactly as it is meant to.
The Law of Free Will
There is a Universal Law that honors the sovereignty of every soul.
No one can awaken another person.
No one can force consciousness.
No one can choose another person's path.
Every awakening begins from within.
The Higher Self gently calls each individual forward in perfect timing.
Our role is never to convince.
Our role is never to persuade.
Our role is simply to embody the Light.
As an Ascended Master and Ascension Guide, I honor this same principle.
I cannot convince anyone to awaken.
I cannot persuade someone to choose a different path.
I can only inspire.
Illuminate.
Support.
And lovingly hold space for those who freely choose to step forward.
Spirit's Guidance on Entanglement
"You are all multi-dimensional beings. This means that, just as you who are awakened were able to focus yourselves out of the third dimension and into the fifth-dimensional version of yourselves, so too can all of your loved ones. We invite you to begin seeing only the fifth-dimensional version of them, because this is how the Higher Self and Source already see them. You are all Source experiencing different levels of consciousness, and what you focus upon, and how you feel about things, is what you amplify. So, if we were in your shoes, we would focus upon the fifth-dimensional version of not only your loved ones, but all beings who are incarnated at this time on your planet."
Where Your Attention Goes...
One of the easiest ways to become entangled is by continually focusing on what another person is not doing.
We begin noticing everything they don't understand.
Everything they haven't awakened to.
Everything we wish they would change.
Without realizing it, we begin amplifying those very qualities in our own awareness.
Remember one of the greatest spiritual truths:
Anything that anyone gives attention to becomes true.
The more we focus on another person's unconsciousness, the more real it becomes within our own experience.
The more we focus on their Higher Self...
The more we begin meeting them there.
Embodiment Is the Greatest Gift You Can Offer
Many people believe their purpose is to awaken others.
I see it differently.
Your purpose is to become so deeply embodied that your presence naturally inspires those around you.
People are far more likely to be transformed by your peace than by your explanations.
By your joy rather than your arguments.
By your embodiment rather than your advice.
You did not come here to carry another person's awakening.
You came here to become the Light.
Trust Their Higher Self
Every person has a Higher Self.
Every person has a divine path.
Every person is being lovingly guided, whether they recognize it yet or not.
The same Higher Self that called you into awakening is present within them.
Trust that.
Honor that.
Release the need to manage what was never yours to carry.
A Simple Practice
The next time you find yourself worrying about someone you love, gently pause and ask yourself:
"Am I trusting their Higher Self as much as I trust my own?"
Then shift your awareness.
Instead of seeing them through fear...
See them as their Higher Self already sees them.
Whole.
Divine.
Awakening in perfect timing.
Offer them love.
Offer them compassion.
Then return your attention to your own embodiment.
Call your Higher Self fully into your body.
Remain present.
Become the Light.
Because the brightest path you can create for another person...
Is the one you walk yourself.
A Final Thought
Every soul is sovereign.
Every soul is free.
Every soul is guided by its own Higher Self.
Your responsibility is not to awaken another.
Your responsibility is to remain aligned with your own Light.
As you continue choosing Presence...
Choosing Love...
Choosing Embodiment...
Your life itself becomes an invitation.
And those who are ready will find their own way — not because you convinced them, but because your Light reminded them that theirs has been there all along.
They were simply waiting to remember...
They are Source.
They are Sovereign.
They are Free.

Joy, Inner Authority & the Clues Within
A gentle guide to rediscovering what feels good, what you want, and what is true for you.
Rediscovering What Feels Good, What You Want, and What Is True for You
If you were asked: What do you TRULY brings you joy? What makes you FEEL good? and your answer was: “I don't know.” There is nothing wrong with that answer. But let's become curious about it. Because perhaps you don't actually have an absence of joy. It’s possible you've become disconnected from the internal signals that tell you what feels good, what you want, what you don't want, and what is true for you. Maybe you've spent years focusing upon what other people need. Maybe you've learned that enjoyment has to be earned. Maybe rest feels unproductive. Maybe pleasure feels undeserved. Maybe you've learned to measure your choices against what other people will think. Maybe you've become so accustomed to doing what you should do that you can no longer easily feel the difference between: “I should want this.” and “I actually want this.” Or perhaps disappointment taught you not to want too much. A scared part of you may have learned: If I don't know what I want, I can't be disappointed when I don't receive it. If I don't let myself desire it, I can't lose it. If I don't get excited, I can't be let down. And perhaps another part learned: If I don't clearly state what I want, no one can judge my answer. If I remain uncertain, I can't be wrong. If I wait to see what everyone else wants, I won't disappoint anyone. So we're not going to force ourselves to know. We're going to become curious. We're going to look for clues.
The Blank Is a Clue
When someone asks: “What do you want?” and your immediate response is: “I don't know,” “Whatever you want.” “It doesn't matter to me.” notice it. Don't judge it. Don't immediately try to produce an answer. Ask: Do I genuinely not know—or am I uncomfortable knowing? But perhaps you actually know the answer and are hesitant to fully occupy it. Ask: “What would my answer be if I wasn't afraid of anyone's response to it?” Pause. Notice what comes. That is a clue.
Why Might I Be Afraid to Know?
Place your hand on your Heart and ask: Would knowing what I want make me responsible for choosing it? Would I be afraid I couldn't have it? Would I be afraid of being disappointed? Would someone judge me? Would someone be disappointed in me? Would someone think I was selfish? Would I have to change something? Would knowing what I want make me aware of what I no longer want? Would speaking my truth create a reaction in someone else? Am I afraid of being wrong? Am I afraid I'll change my mind later? Would it feel safer to remain uncertain than to clearly choose?
Start With What You Already Know
You don't need to begin with: “What is my passion?” “What is my Purpose?” “What would make me completely happy?” Those questions can feel enormous when you're relearning how to hear yourself. Start smaller. Think about the last week. When did your body feel most relaxed? Where were you? Were you inside or outside? Were you alone or with someone? Were you moving or still? Was it quiet? Was music playing? Were you creating something? Were you laughing? Were you cooking? Were you walking? Were you near water? Were you in the sunshine? Were you resting? What was happening when you noticed even a small amount of ease? Write it down. That's a clue.
Follow Relief Before You Look for Joy
If you can't identify joy yet, don't start there. Look for relief. Ask: What makes me exhale? What makes my shoulders drop? What makes my body soften? Where do I feel like I don't have to perform? Who can I be around without managing how they perceive me? Or am I ALWAYS managing perception of me? Where can I go where I don't feel responsible for anything? What makes me feel: “Ahhh... I can just be here.” Relief is a clue. Peace is a clue. Ease is a clue. You don't have to go directly from numbness to enormous joy. Follow the smallest signal of aliveness.
Follow Your Attention
What do you naturally look at when nobody is telling you what to look at? What do you stop and admire? What do you photograph? What do you save? What do you read about simply because you're curious? What conversations make you lean forward? What could someone start talking about that immediately gets your attention? What do you research even though nobody asked you to? What places do you daydream about? What music do you return to? What colors attract you? What environments attract you? What foods attract you? What experiences make you spontaneously think: “Oh, I would love to do that.” Don't explain why. Don't decide whether it's practical. Don't ask whether you're good at it. Just notice. Attention is a clue.
Follow What You Miss
Complete these sentences: I used to enjoy __________. I haven't __________ in years, but I used to love it. When I was younger, I could spend hours __________. Before life became so busy, I loved __________. Something I stopped doing because it wasn't practical was __________. Something I stopped doing because someone criticized me was __________. Something I secretly wish I would start doing again is __________. We're not assuming everything from the past belongs in your NOW. We're gathering clues.
Follow Envy Without Judgment
Who have you recently looked at and thought: “I wish I could do that.” or “I wish I had that.” Or “Must be nice.” What part of you thinks you don’t deserve that experience? Don't judge yourself for the response. Become curious. Maybe they're traveling. Painting. Writing. Teaching. Living near the ocean. Dancing. Resting. Having beautiful dinners with friends. Working less. Creating music. Living alone. Being in a loving relationship. Running a business. Not running a business. Living simply. Living luxuriously. Being spontaneous. Ask: What is it about their experience that I actually desire? Perhaps you don't want their life at all. Maybe what you're responding to is: Freedom. Creativity. Connection. Beauty. Adventure. Expression. Peace. Abundance. Playfulness. Authenticity. That's a clue.
Follow What Makes You Lose Track of Time
When do you stop looking at the clock? What can you become completely absorbed in? Cooking? Gardening? Painting? Talking? Writing? Building? Organizing? Teaching? Walking? Listening to music? Playing with animals? Being near water? Learning? Traveling? Creating beauty? Solving something? Daydreaming? Notice the difference between something that consumes your attention because you're anxious and something that absorbs you because you feel alive. Aliveness is a clue.
Practice Inner Authority With Things That Don't Matter
Now let's begin practicing something else. If you have spent years looking outside of yourself before deciding what you want, don't begin by trying to make the biggest decision of your life. Practice with things that seemingly don't matter. Ask yourself: Coffee or tea? If you get stuck here, ask yourself what you are afraid of by making a definitive choice here. Music or quiet? Go out or stay home? Do I want to talk or be alone? Do I actually like this food? Do I want to wear this? Do I want to go to this event? Do I want to continue this conversation? Do I want to rest? Am I ready? Then practice allowing the answer to be simple: YES. NO. NOT YET. I DON'T KNOW YET. All four can be truthful answers. You don't have to explain. You don't have to justify. You don't have to make the answer permanent. You're simply practicing: What is true for me in this NOW moment?
Notice the Qualification
Pay attention to what happens after you answer. Maybe you say: “No...” and immediately begin explaining why you're allowed to say no. Maybe you say: “Yes...” and immediately qualify it. “Yes, but...” “No, unless...” “I would like to, but whatever everyone else wants is fine.” “I think so.” “Probably.” “Maybe.” “It doesn't really matter to me.” Pause. Ask: Do I believe my truth requires a defense? And then: What was my answer before I began negotiating with myself? That can be incredibly revealing.
Relearn Your Own YES and NO
Place your hand on your Heart. Ask: What does YES feel like in my body? Don't answer with your mind. Feel. Expansion? Warmth? Excitement? Peace? Openness? Energy? Now ask: What does NO feel like? Contraction? Heaviness? Withdrawal? Stillness? An absence of energy?
You Are Allowed to Change Your Mind
Speaking your truth in this NOW moment doesn't mean you have to hold the same truth forever. Energy moves. Experiences complete. Preferences change. You expand. Something that once held enormous energy may complete. Something that once felt like a wholehearted YES may become a wholehearted NO. Something that once held no energy may suddenly light up. Changing your mind doesn't automatically mean your previous answer was false. Perhaps: The experience completed and the energy moved once again toward what is in your best and highest good—which is always also the path of your greatest joy. So you don't need to create another Identity around your preferences. You simply become present enough to notice: Where is the energy NOW?
You Don't Have to Deserve Joy
Ask yourself: Do I believe enjoyment has to be earned? Do I have to finish everything first? Take care of everyone first? Make enough money first? Heal enough first? Become spiritual enough first? Be productive first? Fulfill all of my responsibilities first? Does some part of me believe: “Once everything is handled, THEN I can enjoy myself.” And has everything ever actually been completely handled? Perhaps enjoyment isn't the reward at the end of your life. Perhaps joy is part of the guidance through your life. Your best and highest good is not separate from the path of your greatest joy. Joy gives you information. Ease gives you information. Curiosity gives you information. Expansion gives you information. And the absence of energy gives you information too.
Your Seven-Day Clue Practice
For the next seven days, stop trying to answer: “What do I truly enjoy?” Instead, become a collector of clues. At the end of each day, write down: Something that made me smile. Something that made my body relax. Something I wanted more of. Something I was curious about. Something that felt easy. Something that made me lose track of time. Something beautiful I noticed. Something I didn't want to end. Something I thought, “I'd like to do that again.” Something that had energy. Something that had no energy. And add two more: One moment when I clearly knew what I wanted. One moment when I knew my answer but hesitated to say it. No judgment. No analysis required. You're gathering evidence of you.
Look for the Pattern
After seven days, look at your clues. Where is the energy? Where is the ease? Where is the curiosity? Where is the peace? Where is the freedom? Where is the joy? Where did you clearly know your truth? Where did you abandon your answer because someone else's response became more important? And where is there simply no energy anymore? Remember: The absence of energy isn't automatically a problem. It may be guidance. An experience may have completed. And the energy may already be moving toward what is in your best and highest good and the path of your greatest joy.
Coming Home to Your Inner Authority
Perhaps you haven't lost your ability to know what brings you joy. Perhaps you learned not to listen. Perhaps you haven't lost your ability to know your truth. Perhaps you learned to check outside of yourself before trusting what you knew within. Maybe a scared part learned that wanting wasn't safe. Choosing wasn't safe. Saying no wasn't safe. Changing your mind wasn't safe. Receiving wasn't safe. Being disappointed wasn't safe. That part doesn't need to be pushed away. Bring it into your Heart. Love it. And say: It is safe for me to discover myself. It is safe for me to know what I want. It is safe for me to want. It is safe for me to enjoy. It is safe for me to say YES. It is safe for me to say NO. It is safe for me to say NOT YET. It is safe for me to genuinely not know yet. It is safe for me to speak what is true for me. It is safe for me to change my mind. It is safe for an experience to complete. It is safe for the energy to move. It is safe for me to follow where the energy is NOW. You don't have to figure out your joy. You don't have to figure out your truth. You can begin by noticing. Notice the tiny YES. Notice the tiny NO. Notice the exhale. Notice the curiosity. Notice the resistance. Notice what lights up. Notice what has no energy. Notice what you know before you ask everyone else what they think. These are all clues. And as you begin honoring them, you are strengthening your relationship with your own inner authority. You are remembering the organic you underneath the conditioning. Follow the clue. Trust what you notice. Speak what is true. Notice where the energy is NOW. And allow your greatest joy to show you the next step.

When Someone You Love Says, "You've Changed"
A compassionate guide for navigating the tender moments when the people closest to you notice — and sometimes resist — the person you are becoming.
When Someone You Love Says, "You've Changed"
If your spouse or family member says: "You've changed since you've been following this Ascension stuff." There can be a temptation to immediately defend yourself, explain Ascension, convince them that what you're experiencing is real, or become frightened that your evolution is creating separation. But what if you simply recognize: Yes. I am changing. And so are you. We all are. Change does not automatically mean the relationship is ending. Change does not automatically mean you are growing apart. And someone not consciously participating in Ascension teachings does not mean that their Soul isn't evolving. We want to be careful that "I am awakened and you are not" doesn't become another Conditioned Identity. You do not need your spouse to use your language. You do not need your family to understand everything you understand. You don't need them to believe what you believe in order for you to honor what you know. And you don't have to make yourself smaller so that someone else feels more comfortable with the version of you they already knew. There is another possibility: Can I allow myself to change without requiring the people I love to change in the same way, at the same speed, or using the same language?
What Do I Actually Say?
Sometimes the most loving response is also the simplest: "You're right. I am changing. I'm learning more about myself and paying attention to what feels true for me. I know some of those changes may feel unfamiliar to you. I'm not asking you to believe everything I believe or experience this the way I do. I love you, and I also need to honor what I am discovering within myself. We don't have to have all the answers about what this means right now." For a family member who doesn't want to discuss Ascension at all, it can become even simpler: "You don't have to understand this the way I do. I'm not asking you to. I'm simply asking you to allow me the freedom to explore what feels true for me, just as I want you to have the freedom to choose what feels true for you." That is Inner Authority without domination. I don't have to convince you. You don't have to validate me. I don't have to abandon myself. And I don't have to reject you because your experience is different from mine.
The Feeling of Being Torn
This may be one of the most important pieces to address. Sometimes the feeling of being torn isn't actually: "Do I choose my spouse/family or do I choose Ascension?" The deeper question may be: "Can I become more of who I AM without losing the people I love?" That can touch very old human fears around belonging, rejection, abandonment, loyalty, family identity and safety. A person may discover: If I change, I will lose my family. If I speak my truth, my spouse will reject me. If they don't understand me, we cannot remain together. If I'm evolving and they're not consciously doing this work, I have to leave them behind. Those are conclusions. They are not necessarily guidance. Come back into the body. Find your Light. Call the Higher Self fully IN. Then ask: What is actually true NOW? Where is the energy NOW? Is this relationship complete — or is its old structure complete? Those are very different things. Perhaps the relationship completes. Perhaps it transforms. Perhaps the roles within it change. Perhaps two people discover an entirely new way of loving each other. Perhaps someone who never uses the word Ascension begins expressing greater Love, freedom, authenticity, compassion and sovereignty in their own way. We don't have to decide the outcome before the energy reveals it.
Family Structures and Soul Group Structures
Within the spiritual framework you're developing, if old Family Structure or Soul Group structures are completing, completion doesn't have to mean loss. It can mean that the old energetic agreement or structure through which people related is no longer required. A relationship organized around obligation may discover freedom. A relationship organized around guilt may discover choice. A relationship organized around rescuing may discover sovereignty. A relationship organized around roles may discover authentic connection. A relationship organized around fear of abandonment may discover unconditional Love. And sometimes an experience may genuinely complete. But we don't need to make completion synonymous with rejection. Perhaps what is being released is not necessarily the person. Perhaps what is being released is the structure through which you previously knew one another.
